BROKERAGE FIRM TEAMED UP WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF GREATER MIAMI TO TAKE PART IN  A “BLITZ  BUILD”

MIAMI, FL (March XX, 2016) – Real estate associates with EWM Realty International are accustomed to selling homes and commercial properties….but actually building a house became a unique, company-wide endeavor recently, thanks to a special initiative with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami.

More than 75 associates and staff teamed up at the end of last month to invest more than 400 hours into the construction of a brand-new three-bedroom home for a deserving family in south Miami-Dade’s West Perrine neighborhood. The effort was part of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami’s “Blitz Build” which involved the participation of subcontractors and volunteers who erected 10 houses in 12 days.

EWM financially supported the construction, while EWM volunteers completed the task of constructing one of the 10 homes…their participation resulting in a new residence for the thankful recipients. The new homeowner’s extended family also contributed 350 hours of labor toward the construction — all while working alongside members of the EWM team.

“While we’ve had numerous and wonderful volunteer experiences with Habitat Humanity over the years, this is the first time we, as a company, have sponsored a singular Habitat for Humanity residence,” said Ron Shuffield, President, EWM Realty International. “It was a point of great pride to see our associates and staff members join together to do something so monumental for a young family, who is the first generation within their family to ever own a home. All those who volunteered certainly have a new appreciation for the intrinsic importance of home-ownership and the impact that ‘giving back’ can have on an entire community.”

Adding to the significance of the feat, Habitat for Humanity has reached roughly 1,000 families with 1,000 homes since its chapter’s inception in South Florida in 1989.
