Founded in 1918, The Cleveland Orchestra is acknowledged among the world’s handful of best orchestras. Under its current music director, Franz Welser-Most, The New York Times declared it the “best in America”in 2015.
Cleveland Orchestra Miami was launched in January 2007 during the inaugural season of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. Each season the Cleveland Orchestra performs a series in Miami. The 2016-2017 season comprises five concerts at the Adriene Arsdt Center.
On Friday, November 11th, the first concert of the season featured guest conductor, Giancarlo Guerrero, music director of the Nashville Symphony and violinist Gil Shaham. Shaham’s performance of the Barber Violin Concerto was spectacular. In the Symphony No.5 by Shostakovich the orchestra’s legendary unique sound made the evening memorable.
The Under 18s Free program offers one free ticket with each regular-priced adult paid admission to young people ages 8 – 17. Under 18s Free tickets are available for all Cleveland Orchestra Miami subscription series concerts.
